Ukraine's Foreign Intelligence Service has alleged that Roman Ihnatov, head of the High Qualification Commission, a key agency in Ukraine's judicial system, has Russian citizenship. Ihnatov, who worked as an investigator in Russia in the 1990s and was required by the law to be a Russian citizen at the time, denies having ever had Russian citizenship. The journalists say that it appears that Ihnatov has no valid Russian passport, since it can't be found in Russian databases, and that the number of the alleged passport, provided by the Foreign Intelligence Service, is likely fake.
The High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine (HQCJ) has received a letter from Ukraine's Security Service (SSU) stating that HQCJ's Head, Roman Ihnatov, has Russian citizenship. Earlier, Ihnatov had denied having a Russian passport.
