Herkimer County COVID: 47 new cases reported on Monday; latest update

Times Telegram Herkimer County Public Health reported 47 new positive COVID-19 tests Monday, raising the county’s total to 1,593 since the local onset of the coronavirus pandemic in March and giving the county 599 active cases with 12 people hospitalized. There have been 15 virus-related deaths reported in the county and 979 people have made full recoveries after testing positive. Sixty-six thousand, one hundred twelve tests have come back negative. The department reports there are 800 people currently in mandatory quarantine with public health after 200 were released Monday morning. There are 1,150 others in precautionary quarantine. Herkimer County’s first confirmed case of COVID-19 was announced March 12, with the second announced March 19. The county’s first coronavirus death was announced March 26, an 85-year-old with underlying health conditions.

That brings the total number of positive cases to 1,749 since mid-March. There were a total of 675 active COVID-19 patients as of Wednesday; 22 are hospitalized. Fifteen people have died. The number of people who have recovered from the illness now stands at 1,059. A total of 67,232 have tested negative for the virus. A total of 998 people are currently in quarantine with public health orders; 100 were released Wednesday; 1,050 are in precautionary quarantine and 1,000 were released.
