A bridge, across Hemavati river, near Bankenahalli collapsed in the floods caused by heavy rains in August 2019. Since then, the residents of Bankenahalli, Chegu, Kudige and other nearby villages have lost connectivity to Banakal on the Mangaluru-Villupuram highway (NH-234).

Bengaluru, Dec 13: Former chief minister and JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy has said that there was no question of his party forming an alliance with any other political party. The question of JD (S) forming alliance with any other political party does not arise. JD (S) will not do slavery of any other political party, said former CM H D Kumaraswamy.
Speaking at a press conference, Kumaraswamy said, We are pro-people and pro-farmers. We will call a spade a spade. A situation may arise in this state wherein Kumaraswamy will be inevitable for Karnataka. I am confident of that.
