York County police department thanks community for donations for new K-9 officer

Updated: 7:41 PM EDT Apr 21, 2021 A police department in York County is thanking community members who donated money for a new K-9 officer.Hellam Township police put up a billboard at Accomac Road and Route 462. Everybody who drives past this every day – maybe they donated a large amount of money. Maybe they stuck $5 in the money box at Hellamshire Restaurant. It all matters. It all counts. It all pays the bills and gets us to the end result, which is putting that dog on the street, Chief Doug Pollock said. The initial cost to bring the dog to the department was more than $25,000. It costs $10,000 to $15,000 a year to run the program and save for the future. The dog’s name is Cerberus. He has been with the department since August.
