Europe Day this year looks towards the future of Europe with the inaugural event of the Conference of the Future of Europe at the European Parliament on Sunday.
In Malta, the European Parliament Office in Valletta will be streaming the inaugural ceremony of the Conference on the Future of Europe live on Sunday at 2pm on the EP Malta Facebook page.
On the occasion of Earth Day, the Europe Direct Information Centre (Gozo), along with the Global and Observation to Benefit the Environment Malta, organised the final event of the EDIC Globe Steam Challenge. The event was held online.
The challenge was launched in November and a record number of 600 students and 50 educators from seven schools participated.
The participants came from the Gozo College primary schools of Xewkija, San Lawrenz, Sannat, Victoria, Żebbuġ and St Francis (Victoria) and Laura Vicuna Primary School.
All schools were provided with seeds of indigenous trees provided by Grow 10 Trees, compost soil by EDIC-Gozo and an activity sheet to record plant growth, provided by Globe.

The forum will be hosted online between 25 and 29 January.

The Malta Sustainability Forum, organised by APS Bank, is soon to be hosted over five days in a major online event featuring a superb line-up of local and international expert speakers.
The hugely successful first edition of the forum in 2019 offered a platform for some of the world’s experts to contribute to an open – and increasingly critical – dialogue regarding sustainability. To continue the momentum while ensuring the safety of speakers and attendees, the 2021 edition is set to be hosted online between 25 and 29 January.
“Under the overarching theme ‘The Time is Now’ we want to draw the attention of all stakeholders and the public at large that efforts done over the last five years need to be amplified. The pandemic has provided an immense appetite and opportunity for change, let’s seize it!” explains Herve Delpech, Chief Strategy Officer at APS Bank.
