Tetbury news: Concerns over cashless parking in town

AT the last Tetbury Town Council Heritage and Regeneration committee meeting Cllr Mike Evemy, Cotswold District Council deputy leader and cabinet member for finance, accepted the invitation to come and discuss Cotswold District Council’s decision to go forward with the decision to remove cash payments from their car parks. Cllr Evemy gave the rationale and well presented logic behind this decision which included ‘environmental impact of cash collections’ ‘cost’ and ‘vandalism/theft’. However Tetbury Cllrs have requested more information as vandalism and theft issue seems to be more relevant to North Cotswolds. The main concerns raised by the committee was the timing.

UK wildlife hospitals report 'busiest year ever' as lockdown turns focus to nature | Animal welfare

Fri 18 Dec 2020 04.34 EST Last modified on Mon 21 Dec 2020 06.14 EST Wildlife hospitals across the UK are reporting their busiest year ever, with hedgehogs, pigeons, bats and birds of prey among a growing number of animals brought into centres for treatment. The rise in admissions is part of a wider trend of increasing awareness of habitat loss and the threats to the natural world, but experts also point to the Covid-19 lockdown as a significant factor in this year’s increase. The number of people venturing out to nature spots has surged during the pandemic, with almost half of the population spending more time outside than before coronavirus. A third of people reported noticing nature and wildlife more.
