PANAMA CITY In a little more than a year, Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center plans to complete a multi-million expansion project.
Motorists traveling along West 23rd Street in Panama City might have noticed there s an uptick in activity at the hospital. As of Thursday morning, construction cranes bordered the building, crews roamed the campus and the sound of power tools could be heard from the parking lot.
According to Holly Dean, the hospital s chief operating officer, the extra liveliness is thanks to a more than $60 million project to construct three new floors and add almost 60 more hospital beds. The development, which broke ground last October, will also create about 100 new jobs split between positions such as nurses, patient care techs and laboratory workers, she added.
