Originally released in 2002, Kingdom Hearts shouldn t have worked. Combining the mature themes and designs of Square s Final Fantasy RPGs with the cutesy, family friendly fun of Disney, Kingdom Hearts still sounds bizarre, but somehow, it landed. Nearly two decades and a dozen games later, Kingdom Hearts is a massively successful franchise with multiple games in the pipeline. However, up until now, the series has primarily lived on the various incarnations of the PlayStation, with the occasional spin-off game on Nintendo or mobile.
