Fijilive - Police to step up health enforcement Gateway to Fiji, Fiji News, Fiji Rugby, Fiji Football, Fiji Sports, Fiji Picture Gallery, Fiji Business, etc

Police can now arrest people for not adhering to the health restrictions in place. Acting Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu has said that in its bid to enforce the public health measures as gazetted by the government, the Force would start making arrests. Tudravu said it was noticed that people still werent following instructions and not seriously taking into consideration the impact of the coronavirus pandemic “This has forced the Institution to enforce restrictions on the ground from tonight and taken to task those who still do not comply,” he said. “Those not adhering to the two-meters distancing inside or outside the supermarket in any containment area will be arrested.

Fijilive - Fiji is at grave coronavirus risk Gateway to Fiji, Fiji News, Fiji Rugby, Fiji Football, Fiji Sports, Fiji Picture Gallery, Fiji Business, etc

May 06, 2021 09:23:24 PM Coronavirus has never posed a graver risk to Fijian lives than it does today, says Permanent Secretary for Health Dr James Fong. Dr Fong said if the intensive care units become stressed with high numbers of coronavirus-positive patients, they will be hard-pressed, like other countries with high rates of infection. He said this is to fully treat people who need critical care, and it will be too late to prevent a great deal of human suffering. Dr Fong said the public still has the chance to stop that from happening. “If our intensive care units become stressed with high numbers of coronavirus positive patients, we will be hard-pressed like other countries with high rates of infection,” he said.

Fijilive - War is far from won: Dr Fong Gateway to Fiji, Fiji News, Fiji Rugby, Fiji Football, Fiji Sports, Fiji Picture Gallery, Fiji Business, etc

May 03, 2021 10:19:11 PM The war against the coronavirus is far from won as many, many more Fijians are yet to be tested  in order to get a grip on the spread and stop it, says Permanent Secretary for Health Dr James Fong. He said case numbers may seem low next to the hundreds of thousands being recorded around the world every day but they won’t stay low if we do not act responsibly. “We must deal soberly with the scale of the threat we face and report honestly on the measures we know can work including the use of the careFIJI contact tracing application and the widespread administration of COVID-19 vaccines.”
