Fire In The Mountains, will have its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival 2021 in the World Cinema Dramatic competition. The film, produced by Jar Pictures, is the only Indian film among the 10 films in the section, which presents emerging filmmakers around the world who offer fresh perspectives and inventive styles.
Mumbai : Filmmaker Ajitpal Singh’s “Fire in the Mountains” and director duo Rintu Thomas and Sushmit Ghosh’s “Writing with Fire” are the two Indian films to have been selected for the Sundance Film Festival 2021, the organisers announced on Wednesday.
The festival, which will be held from January 28 to February 3, is presented by Sundance Organisation, a nonprofit that discovers and supports independent artists, and introduces audiences to their work.
Singh’s debut Hindi feature, “Fire in the Mountains” will have its world premiere in the ‘World Cinema Dramatic Competition’, which showcases 10 narrative feature films from emerging talent around the world offering fresh perspectives and inventive styles.
Two films, Fire In The Mountains and Writing With Fire, are the only Indian titles at the prestigious 2021 Sundance Film Festival. The lineup for the upcoming edition has 72 feature films, and 38 first-time directors, including Rebecca Hall, Robin Wright and Ajitpal Singh. Ajitpal s debut Hindi feature film Fire In The Mountains will have its world premiere at the fest in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition category.
Writing With Fire, directed by Rintu Thomas and Sushmit Ghosh, is selected in the World Cinema Documentary Competition section. The film is about the cluttered news landscape dominated by men, and how chief Reporter Meera and her journalists break tradition to come out with India s only newspaper run by Dalit women.

Fire In The Mountains will be premiered at the Sundance Film Festival 2021 in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition section. The Jar Pictures production is the only Indian title among the 10 movies in this section.
The 82-minute film is “about a mother who toils to save money to build a road in a remote Himalayan village to take her wheelchair-bound son for physiotherapy but her husband believes that a shamanic ritual (Jagar) is the remedy,” a press release stated.
Also selected in the World Cinema Documentary Competition section is the Indian production
