Police: Woman charged with assault after pouring kerosene on someone

A Campbellsville woman was arrested in West Point after she reportedly poured kerosene from a pump onto a woman at a gas station. April Lynn Ponder, 42, is being held in lieu of a $10,000 cash bond in the Hardin County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear July 23 in Hardin District Court. According to an arrest citation, Ponder was seen and heard Wednesday night inside a gas station breaking items and swearing at people. When Kentucky State Police arrived, Ponder was found in a field near a Valero station and had a “very strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her breath,” according to the citation. She also had slurred speech, the document said.

Man carrying bat forces way into home

A North Carolina man was arrested Monday afternoon and charged with forcing his way into an apartment with a baseball bat, Elizabethtown police say. Donavan Mayo, 26, of Old Fort, North Carolina, is charged with multiple offenses, including first-degree burglary – a Class B felony punishable by 10 to 20 years in prison, if convicted. According to an arrest citation, Mayo turned up at a Claysville Landing apartment and the woman told him to leave. He then pushed his way into the apartment and “came at her with a baseball bat,” the arrest report stated. He then reportedly pushed her up against a stove by grabbing her throat.

Florida man arrested for fentanyl trafficking

A Florida man was arrested Monday afternoon through a combined investi­gation by the Greater Hardin County Narcotics Task Force, Kentucky State Police, Home­land Security and the U.S. Postal Service for trafficking in fentanyl. Da Jing Wang, 48, of Palm Harbor, Florida, was arrested after a parcel was dropped off at a Highland Avenue address in Vine Grove at 12:23 p.m. Monday and he was seen leaving a silver Honda CRV, walking to the residence to get the package and placing it in his vehicle, according to an arrest citation. The package had 6,150 grams – about 13½ pounds of fentanyl – inside it, according to the arrest report.
