Fifth floor where crews have had their ladders up inside of this Apartment Building at 1893 morris avenue. It appears the flames began in one apartment quickly spread to other units forcing hundreds of residents to evacuate. We saw some of them being treated by ems here on the scene with oxygen masks for smoke inhalation and there are four overall injuries two of them minor two serious. All of them civilans. We spoke with some of the people forced outside of their homes. I smelled it and i could hear the commotion. And then what happened . I got my family out. When i came out i saw all of the flames. Now again firefighters telling us four injuries, four civilan injuries here at the scene two of them serious and the other two minor. It appears they are starting to wrap up the scene and have since pulled their ladders out are told is about under control at this hour but of course we will continue monitoring the situation for you. In 1989 lomaprieta earthquake altered the timeline and cost for renewal of Fishermans Wharf. Pier 45 the planned location for Seafood Center suffered significant earthquake damage and chased away the last number of dwindling company doing fishing at the port. The cost skyrocketed and for a moment it seemed there may no longer be any fish at Fishermans Wharf. Undaunted, we began a 14 million earthv quake repair project at the wharf at pier 45 which when completed turned into dee cap it seismically pier into a receiving processing center. I can recall pundits at the time saying the industry was too far gone and it would never come back to San Francisco. Even if we fixed pier 45. Luckily, when the facility opened in 1995, the receiving and processes and companies flocked back to Fishermans Wharf and the sheds were unleashed to capacity almost immediately.
