Business owners in a small shopping plaza on Cleveland Avenue, U.S. 41 in Fort Myers, finally got a bit of relief Friday after months of being marooned from potential customers by a construction project that makes their stores difficult to reach.
Crews from Ajax Paving arrived at Sungold Plaza at mid-morning Friday and began the work of paving an entrance that will enable cars to get onto Hanson Street and the parking lots of a couple of shopping areas along Cleveland Avenue.
Paving trucks arrived after frustrated merchants conveyed their frustration at the work that makes access to their businesses difficult enough to drive away customers.

I turned 21 the year before this show at Colby s and it is killing me that I never went to it.
Thankfully, YouTuber and brilliant flute player D.J. Sterling has shared it and I can relive this great live rendition of one of their originals, entitled, Most Of All . Over and over.
Even more remarkably and according to the write up, Sterling s performance is all improvisational.
Sadly, Colby s would be destroyed by fire in the winter of 2006. Several places have been established there in that general vicinity of Hanson Street, but, in my opinion, none have captured the same great vibe that Colby s possessed.

But venue owners have concerns over the organisation of the event - which has been confirmed to be returning for four days from Thursday.
Dave Clayton, who runs Soho Music Institute, said: “It’s a little bit insensitive to set up a rival company down the road from somewhere that’s been closed for 12 months, that’s got to trade sub-profitably to get around the Covid arrangements.

Ten new houses received Housing Awards in the NZIA Wellington Architecture Awards.
Social housing and bespoke homes were both winners in a Wellington awards ceremony celebrating the best architecture in the region. Two Kāinga Ora social housing developments, one in Mt Cook and one in Porirua, took out both the Housing – Multi Unit awards at the Te Kāhui Whaihanga New Zealand Institute of Architects Wellington Awards, while 10 new houses won Housing Awards. The Kāinga Ora Hanson Street development of 20 one-bedroom homes in Mt Cook, by Herriot Melhuish O’Neill Architects, and the Castor Crescent development in Porirua by Tennent Brown Architects received special mention from the awards judges.
