A Dhaka court has acquitted Erfan Selim, son of Dhaka MP Haji Selim, in a narcotics case after he was cleared of charges in an arms case. );

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahinur Rahman issued an order relieving Erfan of charges on Monday. On Feb 18, Dhaka Special Tribunal No. 1 Judge KM Imrul Qayes ordered the acquittal of Erfan in the arms case.
The two orders came after Inspector Muhammad Delwar Hossain of Chawk Bazar Police Station submitted the final reports dropping charges in the two cases on Jan 5.
But Erfan is still behind bars in a separate case: he and four others were recently charged with assaulting a naval officer.

Dhaka Special Tribunal No. 1 Judge KM Imrul Qayes issued an order relieving Erfan of the charges on Thursday after receiving the final report by the police.
“The state raised no objections to the final report and the court has issued its order today, accepting the report,” Erfan’s lawyer Shri Prannath told bdnews24.com.
Inspector Muhammad Delwar Hossain of Chawk Bazar Police Station submitted the final report on two cases of arms and drugs against Erfan on Jan 5.

The Detective Branch of police submitted the charge-sheet to court on Thursday after finding evidence against the five, said HM Azimul Haque, deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s DB.
The naval officer, Lt Wasif Ahmed Khan, started the case at Dhanmondi Police Station against Erfan, Zahid and several others on Oct 25, a day after the incident.
He named Haji Selim’s protocol officer AB Siddique Dipu, Mohammad Zahid and Mizanur Rahman, who Wasif said beat him up after a collision between their car and his motorcycle.
Assault on Navy officer: High Court denies bail to Irfan Selim

The High Court on Wednesday refused bail to Irfan Selim, son of Awami League leader Haji Selim, in a case filed over assaulting a Navy officer in October last year.
The bench of Justice Jahangir Hossain Selim and Justice Md Badruzzaman passed the order.
The court also issued a rule asking why Irfan, also former ward councillor of Dhaka South City Corporation, should not get bail. The state has been asked to respond to the rule within two weeks.
Advocate Sayed Ahmed Raza stood for the accused while Deputy Attorney general Dr Md Bashir Ullah represented the state.
