Initiatives expected over the manufacture of automobiles in Bangladesh is yet to become visible in spite of the unveiling of a policy by the government for the first time in 2021 to develop the sector.
The government has formed a national council to develop the automobile industry which, in conjunction with a policy framed recently, is expected to facilitate the sector’s expansion and cut Bangladesh’s over-reliance on imported vehicles.
The government has granted permission to manufacturers to produce bikes up to 500cc engine capacity, a move that is expected to give a huge boost to the motorcycle industry in Bangladesh and provide the scope to bike lovers to ride higher engine two-wheelers.
