The fire was one of 10 incidents involving improper use of fireworks investigated by the Gwinnett County Fire Department during the holiday. (Photo: Gwinnett County Fire Department) For almost 12 hours from New Year s Eve night to New Year s Day morning, Gwinnett County firefighters kept busy responding to a host of fires blamed on improper use of fireworks. Capt. Tommy Rutledge with the Gwinnett County Fire Department said fire crews began responding to the calls starting around 8 p.m. Thursday night and finished the last call around 7 a.m. Friday.

Fire ravages Duluth home Published  DULUTH, Ga. - A blaze ravaged a ranch-style home Monday afternoon in Duluth. Firefighters were called to the scene about 4:30 p.m. in the 2700 block of Norwood Way, NW.  The caller advised 911 that the couch was on fire. Crews arrived to find heavy fire involvement on the interior of the home and in the attached garage. Firefighters quickly deployed fire attack and water supply hose lines and entered the structure to combat the blaze and conduct a primary search. There was no one found inside the house and no injuries were reported. The blaze was brought under control by 5 p.m.
