The Bemidji City Council made the decision to drop a proposed ordinance that would have limited the use of cannabis products in public during its meeting Monday night. It also approved retaining outside legal counsel to hire a new city manager.
The Bemidji City Council will hold a public hearing on the use of cannabis, alongside an ordinance continuing the city’s lodging tax and considering outside legal counsel in the process of hiring a new city manager.
As a part of its financial planning for 2024, the Bemidji City Council debated increasing the tax levy by 13.96%, or if there were ways to lower that number without reducing essential services.
