SDA Church Regrets Disturbance at Forestierre

PRESIDENT of the Saint Lucia Mission of Seventh Day Adventists, Roger Stephen has spoken out on the disruption of service at the Forestierre, SDA Church that took place 11 days ago. Saying that the Missionregrets what happened on the morning of April 24, Stephen said that the Church sympathizes with JoachimHenry, who disrupted the service by calling on Guy Joseph to desist from maligning himself and his family. Henry and Joseph are political rivals vying for the same parliamentary seat, Castries South East, in the upcoming general elections.

Joseph is the incumbent holding down the Economic Affairs Ministry in the government led by Allen Chastanet. Henry, whose only son died suddenly days before the incident, was said to be in a state of grief when he confronted Joseph who was on the pulpit at the time. Torrential rains on Thursday, April 29, 2021, caused a major landslide on the Barre de L’Isle Ridge. The disaster forced a single carriageway for vehicles traversing the main linkage for traffic to and from the west coast.

TWO political figures competing for the Castries South East seat in parliament are currently embroiled in a commotion that war-rants police intervention.
Police last Saturday were called in to intervene in an alleged disturbance at the Forestierre SDA church, involving the in-cumbent parliamentary representative for the area, Guy Joseph and his political rival Joachim Henry.

According to police reports, officers were called to the scene of the incident where it was claimed Henry entered the church to confront Joseph while a service was in progress.

In a statement released over the weekend, the opposition, Saint Lucia Labour Party has slammed what it considers to be sinister campaigning tactics by the ruling party.
The statement reads, the Saint Lucia Labour Party is deeply disturbed by the unwarranted verbal abuse and untruths being levelled towards candidate Joachim Henry and his family, especially during this time as they mourn the sudden death of their son 27-year-old Dr. Joshimar Henry in the United States. The SLP believes there is a time and place for everything.
