Cinco De Mayo is happening this year just after Nevada opens to 100% capacity.
While California may be a little behind Nevada in opening, the party will still happen in South Lake Tahoe as well.
On Wednesday, May 5, Caliente in Kings Beach will host chihuahua races and tortilla tossing contests. Caliente will also be opening its deck and offering food and beverage specials, including specials on Don Julio tequila, throughout the evening.
Dancing will also be available.
Caliente will also host its bi-monthly tequila tasting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 6. Don Julio tequila will be served along with complimentary appetizers during tasting.
The birds are chirping, the sun is warming and the snow is melting. Spring is here and Easter is this Sunday.
Due to the pandemic, Easter Sunday might be a bit different then prior years but more festive events are here as restrictions loosen.

Alex Cox has owned the Gunbarrel Tavern and Eatery located underneath the gondolas in Heavenly Village in South Lake Tahoe for more than seven years. Cox said that prior to the pandemic, his business was a bustling spot for food, drinks and lively entertainment.
“We really made our business on holiday crowds, weekend business, heavy ski resort traffic. [We] really did everything we could to get as many people in the door, many people to the bar, seat as many people as possible, and just try to be a busy restaurant,” Cox explained. “We [were] profitable, and now in the pandemic, it’s completely different.”
