Trustees in limbo over Guilsfield Community Centre

A SERIES of meetings is set to take place in Guilsfield over the coming weeks to decide the future of the community centre. The centre is part of Guilsfield  primary school is owned by Powys County Council, and is leased to the community centre trustees. But, wrangling over decisions made in the past, including questions over land ownership saw the community centre face closure three years ago, before Guilsfield Community Council (GCC) stepped in to help out. At the GCC November meeting, vice-chairman Cllr Glynne Turner, who has effectively been managing the centre since 2018, said that he would be stepping down from the role at the end of March 2021.

Formal complaint lodged over Guilsfield planning decision

Fairview Garage - Guilsfield A FORMAL complaint against the way a planning application in Guilsfield was dealt with has been sent to Powys County Council. In October, Powys Council s planning committee approved an outline planning application to build nine homes at the former Fairview garage in the middle of the village. But Guilsfield Community Council thought that the application was on hold due to the Covid-19 crisis, and had not given the county council an opinion on the scheme before it was decided. Guilsfield s meetings were suspended from March to September, and during that time members had not met to discuss the application, which was submitted to Powys in March.
