No late fees: Free Blockbuster kiosk comes to LaSalle

May 24, 2021   LASALLE – There’s nothing that screams yesteryear like a video rental store, and one LaSalle resident is bringing a bit of that nostalgia back to the community. Take a movie, leave a movie. That’s the concept of the “Free Blockbuster” kiosks that have been popping up all over the country. LaSalle resident and local radio personality Steve Pulaski, is bringing that movie magic to the Grove Center, the first “Free Blockbuster” kiosk in North Central Illinois. “I think streaming services compared to video stores are weightless experiences, ” said Pulaski. “You do hold the DVD or movie in your hand, there’s no physical contact anymore. Free blockbuster is a personal experience for the community to enjoy”

It will be a smaller sale at a different location because the Oak Ridge Public Library is not yet fully open to the public, a press release said. “But we are ready to have a sale to share with you the many items we have received since our last sale in March 2020,” the press release said.

Friends of Oak Ridge Public Library Spring Book Sale returns; Habitat ReStore rooms are the site Special to The Oak Ridger The Friends of the Oak Ridge Public Library (FOL) Spring 2021 Book Sale will be held Friday, May 21, and Saturday, May 22.  “It will be a smaller sale at a different location because the Library will not yet be fully opened to the public. But we are ready to have a sale to share with you the many items we have received since our last sale in March 2020,” FOL stated in a news release. The sale will be held in two rooms on the lower level of the Habitat for Humanity ReStore building in Grove Center. The entrance is on Robertsville Road. On Friday, May 21, the Members Sale will be from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Memberships will be available at the door, $5 for an individual and $10 for the family membership.
