Greenway Donates $2M to Rice Research Center

Send Greenway Equipment of Newport has donated $2 million to the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture s Northeast Rice Research and Extension Center in Poinsett County. Half the money will be used to buy agricultural equipment for the station, which is about 8 miles south of Jonesboro on State Highway 1; the other half will go toward construction of the NERREC exhibition hall, which will house new research into rice production practices.  When complete, the hall will have research labs, facilities for community and industry meetings, and importantly, a learning space dedicated to educating grade school children and the general public on rice production in Arkansas, Tim Burcham, director of the NERREC, said in a news release.

Greenway Equipment, Jason Aldean partner to benefit local food banks

Little Rock, Ark. – For the third consecutive year, Greenway Equipment and Jason Aldean are teaming up for an equipment giveaway as a fundraiser to benefit local food banks. The partnership will run until the drawing on April 9th and will give away a John Deere Gator and zero-turn mower Aldean used on his property near Nashville.  Proceeds from the promotion will benefit weekend backpack programs at the Arkansas Food Bank in Little Rock, Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas in Jonesboro, and Southeast Missouri Food Bank in Sikeston. Together, the three food banks feed 4,600 children through their backpack programs, which send food home with deserving children each weekend. 1 in 4 local children are at risk for hunger, but $150 can provide a Backpack of food every weekend for one child for an entire school year.

The first speaker, USA Rice President & CEO Betsy Ward, gave an update on the organization’s activities throughout 2020 and policy priorities for 2021. Despite challenges and changes brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, USA Rice maintained a full schedule of advocacy for the U.S. industry, in addition to conducting four successful international webinars and launching a new podcast, The Rice Stuff, with episodes airing twice monthly. Ward also gave a snapshot of new high-ranking Biden Administration officials in key agencies and reported on meetings her staff has had with the Biden transition team and cabinet nominees.

(KFVS) - Greenway Equipment and Jason Aldean are teaming up to help the Southeast Missouri Food Bank and two Arkansas food banks with an equipment giveaway fundraiser. The fundraiser begins on Monday, February 1 and ends with a virtual drawing on Friday, April 9. The drawing will be for a John Deere Gator and zero-turn mower Aldean used on his property near Nashville, Tennessee. Participants are asked to make a $10 donation for each entry.

Staff Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 virtual conference will be presented live via WebEx on Wednesday, Feb. 10. The 27th annual conference will focus on the outlook for the economy and agribusiness, commodity markets, and agricultural policy. Dec 31, 2020 Arkansas State University’s annual Agribusiness Conference will be a virtual event in 2021. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 virtual conference will be presented live via WebEx on Wednesday, Feb. 10. The 27th annual conference will focus on the outlook for the economy and agribusiness, commodity markets, and the impact of the 2020 election on agricultural policy.  The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at noon.  Sessions will be recorded for later access.
