Marietta resigning from Xenia school board

Marietta resigning from Xenia school board XENIA Jennifer Marietta will be resigning from the Xenia board of education effective Monday, March 1. A board member since late 2016, Marietta has accepted a position with the Greene County Juvenile Court and new Judge Amy Lewis, which creates a potential conflict of interest due to the nature of the court’s work. “I will be hearing cases as a magistrate which will involve Xenia families and students,” Marietta said. “Some will likely involve school staff, like truancy and parental educational neglect.” The resignation will become official during a special meeting Monday. The board is scheduled to hold a discussion about filling the open seat and is expected to go into executive session at the end of the meeting.

The courthouse was built in 1902 and houses the Greene County Court of Common Please and probate court. CHUCK HAMLIN / STAFF Greene County has started a program aimed at helping kids exposed to trauma and violence. The Handle With Care program enables police to notify schools if they encounter a child at a traumatic scene, so schools and mental health care leaders can provide trauma-sensitive support right away. It kicked off in Greene County in January.
