LMPD: Driver charged with DUI, murder after deadly crash on Greenbelt Highway Courtney Hayden

Louisville Metro Police (LMPD) said a person has been charged with murder after an early-morning crash in Louisville.
According to a press release sent by department spokesperson Alicia Smiley, the crash happened on Greenbelt Highway at Lower Hunter s Trace just before 2 a.m. Saturday.
The release said police believe a person was driving northbound on Greenbelt Highway when they swerved off the road and crashed into a metal stop light support. Smiley said a passenger in the vehicle was ejected during the crash and they died at the scene. Their identity has not been released.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. The driver of a vehicle that crashed early Saturday on Greenbelt Highway in Pleasure Ridge Park has been charged with murder and driving under the influence after a passenger was killed, Louisville Metro Police say.
Third Division officers responded to the crash involving a single vehicle about 1:55 a.m. Saturday at Greenbelt Highway and Lower Hunters Trace, LMPD spokeswoman Alicia Smiley said.
Preliminary reports indicate the driver was headed northbound on Greenbelt Highway before swerving to the left, crossing through the southbound lanes and then onto the shoulder, Smiley said. The vehicle continued into the grassy area and went on to strike a metal stop light support, Smiley said. During the course of the collision the passenger was ejected from the vehicle. The car then rotated clockwise into the ditch line, coming to rest atop the passenger who was pronounced deceased at the scene.
