Violent crimes rates have especially skyrocketed. 2023 in Weld County alone, there have been three high-profile cases involving minors: a 16-year-old charged with first-degree murder for shooting his 15-year-old ex-girlfriend, a matricide-suicide involving a 15-year-old in Severance, and a double shooting near Sunborn Park in Greeley.
