Culminating on Tuesday, Nov. 30, Penn State’s annual GivingTuesday event set records for the seventh year in a row. More than 8,600 Penn State alumni, faculty, staff, students and friends helped to raise over $1.25 million and generate more than 10,500 gifts.

The University’s seventh GivingTuesday celebration will launch early at 6:55 p.m. EST on Nov. 29 or 18:55 in military time, a nod to the year of Penn State's founding and run until midnight on Nov. 30. With more than 140 campaigns representing student organizations, alumni interest groups, and at least one project from every college and campus, this year’s event is the largest University-wide celebration to date.
In honor of her 33 years of service to Penn State, the Madlyn Hanes Scholarship Endowment for Academic Excellence has been established at Penn State DuBois. The initial endowment of $50,000 was raised through Penn State DuBois Development with contributions from donors and friends of the campus, and the scholarship celebrates Hanes’ retirement on Aug. 1, from her post as Penn State's senior vice president of Commonwealth Campuses and executive chancellor. Funding will be used to recruit and retain students for the Honors Scholar Program and other high-achieving students attending Penn State DuBois.
