No. 9 Virginia bounced back with early energy, starting strong and finishing off upset-minded High Point, 12-11, at Klockner Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
Alex Rode made 17 saves, Kyle Kology held Asher Nolting to a season-low three points and double-digit turnovers, Matt Moore had five points (3G, 2A), and the Cavaliers weathered a High Point team that simply wouldn’t go away quietly.
“Holding High Point to 11 goals there’s some defensive coaches saying, ’11 goals is 11 goals.’ But we’re going to celebrate the fact we kept a high-powered offense to 11 goals,” said Virginia coach Lars Tiffany.
