ELLSWORTH Grants totaling $20,702 have been awarded to 10 Maine nonprofit organizations and municipalities through the Lifelong Communities Mini-Grant Program.
The program, part of Maine Community Foundation’s strategic goal on thriving older people, helps communities be more supportive of older Mainers’ health, well-being, and ability to age in place.
Grantees include:
• Age-Friendly Communities of the Lower Kennebec, to publish and disseminate its action plan, $2,500;
• Town of Fryeburg, to encourage continued physical activity and social opportunities for seniors by improving infrastructure that is often used at the Fryeburg recreation complex: $2,500; and
• Town of Bowdoinham, to offer virtual classes (exercise, crafts, etc.) and a meal program to promote social engagement and general wellbeing of Bowdoinham’s older adults: $2,000.
