Holland America’s New Ship Completes Sea Trials

Holland America’s newest ship,
Rotterdam, returned last week to Fincantieri’s Marghera shipyard in Venice, Italy after successfully completing two sets of sea trials off the country’s Adriatic coast.
The vessel left Marghera on April 25 and performed the preliminary sea trials over two days before going into dry dock at Fincantieri’s Trieste shipyard, where standard pre-delivery hull maintenance and painting were performed.

Rotterdam began her official sea trials on May 3, and returned to Marghera on May 6. Now, the final steps in the construction process are underway. She is scheduled for delivery on July 30, 2021.

Rotterdam, the line is
slowly getting ready to sail. The Seattle based cruise revealed the Senior officers that will be taking the ship into service on August 1, 2021.
The company had previously revealed the Captain to be Werner Timmers, while they have now revealed they have appointed Staff Captain Kevin Beirnaert, Hotel Director Wessel van Oorschot, Chief Engineer Peter Massolt, Staff Chief Engineer Wim Akkerman, and Environmental Officer Michael Brown to lead
Rotterdam’s shipboard teams.
Together the senior officers will be bringing more than 80 years of shipboard experience to the 99,500 gross ton
