The power went out throughout the entire terminal around 9 30 this morning. Its surprising and concerning when youre in new york when, you know, something happens like that. Ive never seen it so dark honestly. Its weird. A bit scary at the same time. Reporter metro north says a major pipe burst flooding the main power supply. These lights in the main concourse are powered by a backup generator as workers continue to pump out the flooded area and make repairs. Aaron is with metro north. This was a water pipe, a six inch pipe that burst and flooded a transformer vault that feeds power to Grand Central. That transformer was of flooded with 18 inches of water.
