An Elloree man reported Monday that a woman he met on a dating website took $1,500 from him, according to a sheriff’s office incident report.

Mathews, 45, was in Burlington County Jail Tuesday.
But in another outburst Friday, Mathews allegedly targeted a Black neighbor on Gramercy Lane, according to a probable cause statement for his arrest.
Alleged harassment caught on camera
The neighbor, Verlyn H. Gibbons, went to Mount Laurel police Friday, reporting Mathews “was harassing her by approaching her front door, shouting offensive language and racial slurs at her.
Gibbons also said she suspected the white man was responsible for criminal mischief to her vehicle.
According to the statement, Gibbons answered her door later in the day, expecting a visit from a detective.
Instead, she encountered Mathews “cursing at her and denying being a suspect to the criminal mischief,” the statement says. Gibbons quickly shut her door and called police, who spoke to Mathews at the complex.
