Karnataka implementing programmes for doubling income of farmers, says CM   Sat, Jan 02 2021 03:40:08 PM From Our Special Correspondent Daijiworld Media Network Bengaluru, Jan 2: Karnataka is implementing programmes aimed at doubling income of farmers as promised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Saturday. He was addressing a function after inaugurating online the Horticulture Festival organized by the Bagalkot Horticulture University from his Home Office of Krishna in Bengaluru. The State Government was taking proactive steps to introduce new technological interventions for value addition of the horticultural produce, processing, storage and packaging in collaboration with the Central Food Technology Research Institute (CFTRI) and Indian Horticultural Institute, the Chief Minister said.

Karnataka slashes user cess on APMCs from 1% to 0.60%   Mon, Dec 28 2020 08:34:32 PM From Our Special Correspondent Daijiworld Media Network Bengaluru, Dec 28: Karnataka has decided to slash the market user cess imposed in Agriculture Produce Market Committees (APMCs) from 1% to 0.60% of the transaction value. The decision taken at the state cabinet meeting presided by chief minister B S Yediyurappa on Monday is expected to benefit of 36,000 registered traders in 161 AMPCs in the state. The state government issued an order on December 15, 2020, and increased the user fee in APMCs to 1%. Traders demanded a total withdrawal of the hike in user cess and demanded a level playing field with the trade that occurs outside the APMC jurisdiction.
