South Africaâs updated driving laws are coming 1 July â but there are issues
Source: BusinessTech
The Road Traffic Infringement Agency (RTIA) says it is considering a number of options for the rollout of the Aarto Amendment Act and the new demerit system from 1 July 2021.
In its annual performance plan for 2021/2022, the agency said that this will include a possible delay of the points demerit system, as well as a potentially staggered provincial rollout.
The Aarto will penalise drivers and fleet operators who are guilty of traffic offences or infringements by imposing demerit points that could lead to the suspension or cancellation of licences, professional driving permits or operator cards.

NATIONAL NEWS - Frustration is growing amongst the legal fraternity as the Government Printing Works’ eGazette system enters its second month offline.
The Government Printing Works (GPW) announced on Friday it was rushing against time in efforts to fix the technical errors in its publishing system.
This spells trouble for lawyers, auctioneers, liquidators and business people who rely on the system.
This is because the gazettes make official any law or process which needs to be advertised in it to the public. This includes acts and regulations, liquor licence applications, company registrations and deregistrations and legal notices such as insolvencies, liquidation and deceased estate notices.

The National Treasury on Friday published draft amendments to Regulation 28 of the Pension Funds Act (“amendments to Regulation 28”) for public comment on its website.
Due to technical problems currently being experienced by the Government Printing Works, publication of the Gazette was delayed until 1 March 2021 and backdated 12 February 2021. As a result of this delay, comments on the amendments to Regulation 28 will be accepted until 29 March 2021, as indicated in the media statement that was published on 26 February 2021.
