conservatives don t like about romney care is the plan s individual mandate that requires people in massachusetts to buy health insurance or pay a penalty. a similar mandate in the president s law is being challenged in the courts. is romney care a deal breaker for a lot of tea party folks? the individual mandate is a deal breaker. people do not want to see government dictating that they purchase what is a private product. we think that s a disaster. i think there are a number of features in the massachusetts plan that could inform washington on ways to improve health care for all americans. back in 09 when we asked the former governor about that mandate, he defended it. it is a mandate. it is a kind of mandate. it s a requirement. in order to get a tax exemption that you d normally you d, you got to get health insurance because we want everybody in the system, no more free-riders. democrats already have clips like that cued up for 2012. i agree with mitt romney who
why don t we to jessica s point, why don t we look at free markets? why don t we let individuals get back into making their health care decisions with their doctors? part of this is because obamacare put an enormous influence of the government into our health care. costs have not gone down, doctors, we have a huge doctor shortage. none of this is being addressed and quite frankly it is not being addressed currently as well. what we need to do is get away from a government dictating what should be insurance plans. let s have many insurance companies presenting many plans and let people pick the plan that works best for them and then let s start addressing the other issues. what are you going to do about the 15 million people who will be kicked off medicaid? it s not as dirty of a word as you think that it is. there are many ways for many of those 15 none of that is in any of
