Breaking News | Killing of miners an attempt to destabilize Plateau, says Gov Lalong

Gov Lalong Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau has criticised the killing of eight miners in an attack at a mining site in Kuru, Jos South Local Government Area. The governor, in a statement by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Dr Makut Macham, on Saturday in Jos described the incident as an attempt to destabilise the state. He said the act by the criminals was to create fear in the state saying that government would not condone such attacks on innocent people.

Simon Lalong, on Tuesday said the forum would revive the legacies of the late Sardauna of Sokoto, Sir Ahmadu Bello.   The governor stated this while receiving the leadership of the Kaduna State Polytechnic Alumni, led by it National President, Mr Abbas Adamu, at the Government House, Jos. Lalong said that the late Sir Ahmadu Bello served as the first and only premier of Northern Nigeria. He said that governors would have a meeting in Kaduna where they would deliberate with traditional leaders, political appointees and other key stakeholders on the challenges of his legacies.

Gov. Simon Lalong said this on Sunday during a special interdenominational service organised at the Church of Christ in Nation (COCIN) Headquarters in Jos to mark the 2021 Armed Forces Remembrance Day. “I am aware of the incidences of kidnapping, cultism and other violent crimes in some parts of Plateau. “Government is working hard with the security agencies and stakeholders to ensure that the ugly incidences are tackled,” he said.
