The developer behind the luxury RV park rejected in Pittsylvania County attempted to quell concerns among residents near his new target location in Danville.
Instead, the discussion of those issues took up all the meeting s allotted time and more.
The discussion included some suggestions for addressing some of those issues. It began with Wilson listing some of the obvious issues: diversity in City Hall staffing and hiring; affordable housing; education; police reform and police and fire department recruitment; and culture.
Wilson suggested developing a pipeline with Gadsden State Community College and Jacksonville State University to get qualified candidates for openings at the city. He said there are fewer Black and female applicants, perhaps because they don t think they would get the job anyway, or because they want to work in a more diverse workplace.
