The election will be conducted on March 14. East Godavari Collector and Returning Officer D. Muralidhar Reddy on Tuesday issued notification for the MLC election to the East Godavari - West Godavari Teachers’ Constituency.
The aspirants need to submit their nomination papers at the Collectorate in Kakinada city till February 23. The nomination papers will be accepted only during the office hours between 11 a.m. and 3. p.m. during the working days.
The scrutiny of the nomination papers will be completed on February 24 and the aspirants could withdraw the nomination by February 26. The election will be conducted on March 14.

The authorities are on their toes as the Naxal-affected tribal panchayats in East Godavari district are going to elections during the third phase on February 17, even as elaborate security arrangements have been made to prevent any untoward incident.
As many as 2.60 lakh voters will exercise their franchise during the elections to be held in the challenging terrain as a considerable part of it does not have access to telecommunication network. However, a group of habitations in the Papikonda National Park would be a testing field.

Backward Classes Welfare Minister Ch. Venu Gopala Krishna has made it clear that the State government will not entertain any recommendation while selecting beneficiaries for the ‘Nava Ratnalu’ including the ‘Pedalandariki Illu’ scheme, but for the prescribed eligibility criteria.
Addressing the gathering during the distribution of house-site pattas to the beneficiaries in Samarlakota municipality here on Wednesday, Mr. Venu Gopala Krishna said that those meeting the eligibility criteria of the housing scheme were being encouraged to apply and guaranteed of the sanction within 90 days after field inspection by the Secretariat staff.

Two lakh vaccines are expected to arrive in January Authorities in East Godavari district are all set for administering the COVID-19 vaccine, likely from January, to nearly 35,000 healthcare staff, including doctors, both in the public and private sectors in the first phase.
By December 15, the district emerged on top in the State with 1,23,3063 COVID-19 cases and 636 deaths.
East Godavari Collector D. Muralidhar Reddy said the vaccine would be administered in two doses. The ground has been prepared for safe storage of the vaccine. However, he said, the authorities were not aware of which vaccine would be sent by the government.
