This comes as 40 people lost their lives in the province following torrential downpours that have been wreaking havoc since the beginning of last month.
The department said the account has been fraudulently using Kekana s name and pictures, and promising users, at a fee, trading lessons to help them make money to the tune of R50,000 and above.
Machaka Radebe (16) was reported missing from her home in Bloemfontein in December, and two days later her lifeless body was discovered by a passerby. Two people appeared in court this week in connection with her murder.
The provincial disaster management team said the number encompasses people who have drowned, including victims of Ladysmith s flash floods and those who were struck by lightning.
