Is a huge thing in their favor, but they have not gone the way of their moms. They said to themselves, we want Something Better for our lives and we dont want to go there and they didnt. Host Deborah Hicks where do you think you were successful and where do you think you would do things differently . Guest i think we were very successful. We had an intimacy. We had a super successful class. We had seven girls who are attaching themselves to school, loving literature and loving books, loving a school like experience in the teacher. I think the biggest challenge i faced was just about the time that my class finished i had to leave to come back to my home state and found my nonprofit that i was thinking about founding. The biggest difficulty was not being able to kind of finish the class when the girls were entering adolescence. Thats why when i found my new i made sure we were serving girls on the middle school years. We are trying to work with students, girls in the years when they are
Government as separate is a real mistake. Threequarters of people who work for federal government are actually private contractors. And you see this blended government on all levels. So i just would peek to that point. Yeah speak to that point. Yeah. And i appreciate you including me, that was nice. [laughter] i feel strongly about this. I feel strongly, first, i agree with zephyr. This is one of those things that rallies people, and thats exciting and powerful. And second, the corporate personhood issue is a problem in a bunch of areas of law. Its not so much a problem in the Campaign Finance area of law. For example, its a problem if you want to force a corporation to label a product in a certain way. The Supreme Court has a series of stupid decisions which restrict the ability to have that kind of labeling requirement thats not directly tied to Campaign Finance but is a problem that it would be great to solve too. But the thing that i worry about when we focus on corporations are no
All they can do is gobble up the money and make excuses for systemic failures. Government breakdown. Thats tonight. This is the independents. Hi there im kennedy, hostess, along with the unflappable reason editor in chief matt welch and a man who reads more books than the library. Kmele foster from freethink media and together we are the independents. President isnt the only one plagued by scandals as question so much government. Congress is despised, the va is unmanageable and every institution is burstinga the seams. The agency that is supposed to keep superbugs from invading our shores is too busy wasting money in resources telling people how much salt we should put on steaks. Do the agencies overextend themselves . And how can you refocus the behemoth in the middle of colossal breakdowns. Glenn reynolds is the editor at instapundit. Com, and how multitasking may put many at risk for contracting a deadly disease like ebola. Glenn, welcome back to the independents. Thanks for having
Former arkansas governor and president ial candidate Mike Huckabee is the author of god guns, grits and gravy how political and cultural divisions in america. In this after words interview he discusses the book and a 2016 president ial race with s. E. Cupp of cnn. This is an hour. Host governor huckabee i think its worth pointing out the irony that you are sitting there in new york where he used to live and im here in washington where maybe you will live in just over a year . Guest we will see about that. I did say in my book that there is really only one address in all of washington that i have any interest in moving to and i think you probably know which one that might be. Host i do and we will talk about 2016 and a bit but lets talk about your book, god guns, grits and gravy. Explain the title i of all. Guest first of all it is not a recipe book of southern cuisine so i want to put everybody at ease if you are saying i dont even know what a grid is relax. Heres the point of the book
That it wouldnt be working. In other words, because its not very efficient. And im thinking, well, gee isnt that what most of us like what heres the point if youre going to be an environmentalist and you say that it is horrible to emit co2 then live like it. And i use the example, Glenn Reynolds of instapundit who is a great blogger makes the statement about environmentalist but she said i will believe it is his problem with the people who say its a serious problem act like its a serious problem. Now, kudos to people like ed begley junior and daryl hannah because they are environmentalists who actually practice it and live it. Ive read about ed begley is very very spartan life his small footprint of Energy Output icky doesnt fly very often, once in a while he may make a bicoastal trip but i respect that. Whether i agree with it or not to me if you have a conviction then just live it out but if its authentic, we will see it in you. If its not then dont tell me how to live. Dolby al gore
