Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said the state will stop accepting an additional $300 per week in unemployment benefits for thousands of out-of-work Texans.
Citing a study by the Texas Workforce Commission, Abbott said the Texas Workforce Commission found that the number of unemployed receiving assistance was nearly equal to the number of open jobs in the state, which he estimated at more than one million.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KTRE) - The new CEO and president of the Texas Association of Business (TAB) hasnât been a Texan for long. Glenn Hamer was hired in February from Arizona where he served as president for that stateâs chamber for 14 years.
The Nacogdoches Chamber Stakeholders heard from the business expert Tuesday.
Hamer remarked his one job interview question he missed was how many counties are in Texas. He now knows, âThis is a big, big place.â
