A plan to house up to 950 Ukrainian refugees at Glendalough Estate in Wicklow has been scrapped, with resident Count Kaz Balinski saying the initiative had never been “properly considered” and should have been a “charitable endeavour”.
A representative from the company tasked with managing a new large-scale, temporary refugee centre on the grounds of Glendalough Estate in Wicklow has told a public meeting “it’s for Ukrainians and that’s it”.
A public meeting will take place tonight at the Brockagh Resource Centre to discuss plans to accommodate 950 Ukrainian refugees at Glendalough Estate in Annamoe.
Glendalough Estate resident Count Kaz Balinski has stressed to neighbours that he was not involved in talks to house 950 Ukrainian refugees at the site, and only learnt of plans from members of the local community in Annamoe.
