Lawyers want a Lake County child custody case reviewed by the Montana Supreme Court, alleging “gross injustice” when a local judge removed a child from his mother’s care.
A missing audio file and unusual court document have raised concerns justice is being undermined in Judge Deborah Kim Christopher’s Lake County District Court.
Two attorneys are asking the Montana Supreme Court to take over a case that resulted in a 5-year-old child being taken from his mother on the spot in a “draconian transition” the judge said would build the child’s “stress muscles” despite no evidence she is “anything but a good mother.”
A judge ruled in favor of the State of Montana in a lawsuit against Lake County, where the county alleged it should be reimbursed for providing law enforcement services.
