(WAFB) - LSU got a much needed series win over Alabama as they continue to build their resume and make their bid to make the NCAA Tournament. The Tigers scored 13 runs on 16 hits in the win on Sunday. LSU (32-19, 11-16 SEC) earned their 11th win in conference play and have won three of the last four SEC series of the season. Senior Ma’Khail Hilliard (5-0) got the start for the Tigers and threw five innings, allowing three runs, on four hits while striking out a season high seven batters.

The Tigers (29-17, 9-14 SEC) scored six runs in the last three innings to win the series against Auburn (19-22, 5-18 SEC). The Bayou Bengals have won seven out of their last eight series against Auburn. Entering the seventh inning LSU trailed Auburn 5-3 and LSU got things going offensively. Dylan Crews would cut the Auburn lead to 5-4 with a RBI fielders choice to make it 5-4.

Starting pitcher Landon Marceaux (5-4) threw 6.1 innings, striking out 11 batters, allowing three runs on seven hits. The LSU Tigers (28-17, 8-14) scored 8 runs on 11 hits. Freshman Tre’ Morgan led the way going 4-5 at the plate including a two-run triple in the top of the eighth inning.
