David Wheeler Canandaigua Daily Messenger HOPEWELL A full summer season is planned at Constellation Brands-Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center, as large outdoor venues throughout New York are being given the OK to open to full capacity. Friends of CMAC President Ginny Clark said the logistics seating, sanitation and the like will continue to be worked out over the coming weeks, as CMAC and concert promotion company Brooklyn Made Presents continue to work on booking shows. Realistically, Clark said, she doesn t expect concerts to begin until early July, while they may extend into September.

Confusion surrounding new guidance for large outdoor venues

Andrew Cuomo released new guidelines Wednesday for large-scale outdoor event venues, and there’s been some confusion about which venues the new guidelines apply to. The new guidelines say that large-scale outdoor events like concerts and sporting events are only limited by the space available for patrons to maintain social distancing. It also says that vaccinated patrons can sit at full capacity without social distancing.  Sporting event venues like Frontier Field are moving forward with plans to enforce vaccinated and non-vaccinated seating sections. The stadium is also requiring proof of either a full COVID vaccination or a negative test in order to enter. A major difference, however, between sporting event venues like Frontier Field and other “large-scale” outdoor venues is fixed seating.
