The Mandalorian, says he knew that Grogu was Baby Yoda’s real name before filming season two.
One of many big reveals from
The Mandalorian season two was that Baby Yoda’s real name was Grogu. Along with his name, we also learned that Grogu was trained at the Jedi temple on Coruscant and someone saved him from the slaughter during Order 66.
While the name of Grogu has now become familiar to us, how long did Grogu’s adopted father Pedro Pascal know about the name? The actor, who plays Din Djarin, has told Entertainment Tonight that he wasn’t shocked by the reveal as he learned the name before season two even began filming:
The Mandalorian, has said that even he and his crew still call Grogu “Baby Yoda” sometimes.
While Din Djarin is the main focus of
The Mandalorian, for many the true star is little Grogu, who fans got used to calling “Baby Yoda” before his name was revealed in season two.
Many have started calling the little force wielder by his true name but for some, he will always be Baby Yoda, and this is just fine according to creator and showrunner Jon Favreau.
When speaking to Good Morning America, Favreau was asked how the name Grogu came about: “I had written it in the script from very early on and we finally revealed it in the show, but of course everybody knows Grogu as ‘Baby Yoda.’ Which, by the way, is fine with all of us. We still call him Baby Yoda, too. But he prefers to be called Grogu in the show. If you notice, he perks up a lot when you say his name.”
Jon Favreau, the showrunner of
The Mandalorian, has spoken about the huge surprise cameo in the second season of the live-action Star Wars show. Spoilers follow, naturally…
