Yesterday was the third day of the garlic festival. Within minutes of shootings being reported police were able to find and confront and ultimately shoot and kill the gunman. Their investigative remains active overnight. The gunman may have had help from a second possible suspect. We believe they saw witnesses , there was a second individual involved in some way, we just dont know in what way. We have crews working to try to track down and identify leads regarding the second suspect. We are very hopeful with the witnesses and statements that people were able to give us, that they will be able to help us to do that. Police do not have a description of that second possible suspect. The fbi is now releasing personal property of the victims. Specifically on the parkside of the gilroy garlic festival. For vendors, its a little different. Vendors will be contacted directly by the Garlic Festival Association so they can obtain their items. Those items left the festival site are now here at rucker elementary about five miles from where the shooting took place. The fbi has cataloged and tagged each item so you need to describe what you lost and fill out a short form. This center has been opened all week run by the das office. Staff have been providing counseling, Daycare Services and helping to process applications for financial compensation. The center will remain open through the weekend.
