The News Journal W'burg duo charged with possession of heroin, being wanted out of Tennessee – The News Journal

Two Williamsburg people suspected of being wanted fugitives from Tennessee were located at a north Corbin motel with heroin in their possession Tuesday night. Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Jeremy Fore, 29, and Vivian Fore, 29, both of Williamsburg, at the motel off of West Cumberland Gap Parkway. Deputy Gilbert Acciardo said K-9 Deputy Jake Miller along with Lt. Chris Edwards and deputies Jamie Etherton and Keith Dinsmore acted on information they developed, locating the duo at the motel. Upon checking the duo’s identities, deputies learned that they were both wanted out of Cumberland County, Tennessee. “In addition, the two individuals were found in possession of suspected heroin,” Acciardo stated.

The News Journal Deputies: Man yelling at passing vehicles was under the influence – The News Journal

Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies say a Washington County man who was yelling at passing vehicles as he walked along West Cumberland Gap Parkway Tuesday night was under the influence of drugs. Tommy R. Barton, 43, of Williamsburg, was charged with public intoxication – controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia. Deputy Gilbert Acciardo, the department’s public affairs officer, said deputies were called to the scene at approximately 8:50 p.m. in response to a complaint of a male subject stumbling along the roadway and yelling at passing vehicles. K-9/Shift Sergeant Gary Mehler located the suspect, later identified as Barton, in the parking lot of a business and determined him to be under the influence.

An investigation into a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of a north Corbin business early Thursday morning led to the arrest of a man who allegedly slashed his girlfriend with a knife and held it to her throat. Laurel County sheriff’s deputies arrested Mitchell Vaughn, 30, on charges of second-degree assault, first-degree possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Deputy Gilbert Acciardo, the department’s public affairs officer, stated that Deputy Hobie Daugherty, along with Deputy Landry Collett, Deputy Tommy Houston, Deputy Justin Taylor, and shift Sgt. John Inman located Vaughn and the woman in a vehicle in a business parking lot off of West Cumberland Gap Pkwy. at approximately 3:20 a.m.

Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies say a Keavy man, who attempted to flee from deputies investigating suspected shoplifting at the Corbin Walmart Thursday, was under the influence. Brien K. Vann, 29, was charged with theft by unlawful taking of the value under $500, public intoxication – controlled substances, second-degree fleeing or evading police – on foot, second-degree disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Deputy Gilbert Acciardo, the department’s public affairs officer, stated that Deputy Dustin Saylor was called to the store at approximately 4:25 p.m. after loss prevention had detained Vann. Vann had allegedly attempted to shoplift tools. While Saylor was conducting his investigation, Vann reportedly fled out the door.

The deceased has been identified as Jacob S. Vann, 32, of Keavy. Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies were called to 312 Market, formerly known as The Bait Bucket, near the intersection of Ky. 312 and Level Green Road. Deputy Gilbert Acciardo, the department’s public affairs officer, stated that approximately 7 a.m., a male subject, later identified as Vann, entered the store with the intent to rob it. According to deputies, Van inferred that he had a weapon. Van reportedly assaulted a male employee. “Another male employee fired shots at the suspect (Vann) who was assaulting the other employee, hitting the suspect at least once causing fatal injury to the suspect.,” Acciardo stated adding that an unidentified female employee was struck by a stray bullet.
