Maserati unveiled a new lineup of F Tributo Special Edition models at the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show that celebrate the brand’s racing heritage as well as one of the most important drivers in motorsport history.
Racing fans might already know what the “F” stands for and why Maserati is paying “tributo” to him. If you guessed Fangio, you guessed correctly. The great Argentine racer won two of his five world championship titles with the Italian team, as well as the 1957 edition of the 12 Hours of Sebring at the wheel of a Maserati 450S sports car.

Maserati s racing debut was exactly 95 years ago; it was on 25 April 1926 that the first racing car to bear the Trident on its bonnet, the Tipo26, won the 1,500 cc class at the Targa Florio with Alfieri Maserati at the wheel.
28 years later, on 17 January 1954, Maserati made its debut in F1 and entered the pinnacle of world motorsports with the 250F driven by Juan Manuel Fangio. An iconic partnership, crowned by many victories, which Maserati is commemorating today in a fitting tribute.

Commemorating Maserati’s debut in Formula 1 in 1954 is the Ghibli and Levante F Tributo Special Edition. Maserati started racing 95 years ago. On April 21, 1926, the Tipo 26 was born, the first racing car to carry the Trident logo. Driven by Alfieri Maserati, it won the 1,500 CC Targa Florio that year.
But it wasn’t until January 17, 1954, that Maserati debuted on the F1 world stage with legendary Argentinian racing driver Juan Manuel Fangio behind the wheel. Fangio eventually won the 1957 World Championship of Drivers with a Maserati 250F. Celebrating Fangio’s F1 win is the Ghibli and Levante F Tributo Special Edition. And yes, the F is for Fangio.
The Levante F Tributo rides on Anteo 21-inch wheels finished in black, while the Ghibli F Tributo comes with 21-inch Titano wheels in glossy black. A special glossy black badge on the wheel arch and a body-color trident logo on the C-pillar round off the exterior embellishments.
Inside, the interior features red and yellow stitching that matches the exterior and black full-grain Pieno Fiore leather.
Since the F Tributo Special Edition series is an appearance package, there are no performance enhancements. Under the hood, the Maserati Ghibli and Levante are powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 rated at 345 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. No pricing or availability details have been announced.
