This is our Education Center here at mount vernon. It focuses on the life of George Washington. It gives a grand sense of why he matters. Last time, we were looking at his youth, a youth that is oftentimes enwrapped in romance and myth. Of course, he is most known to americans and perhaps the folks around the world as the great military commander, the general who led the americans through the american war for independence, through eight long years of war. That may be some of you who are reagan aficionados may not have known was influential in reagans overall political career and a relationship that influenced many of the views he became so widely known and praise for throughout the 1980s. Some of you probably do know president reagan had a longstanding and deep relationship with Pepperdine University. In fact president reagan, first , as governor, but then as president , made over half a dozen trips to our malibu campus and also to Downtown Los Angeles and Beverly Hills for events in support of Pepperdine University. I know our speaker tonight is going to be talking about some of those in the beginning of his lecture this evening. But one of those that jumps out at me, a few weeks ago, we had our annual Pepperdine Associates dinner in Beverly Hills at the beverly wilshire. This was on february 9 of 2020. She first did her First Painting of Abraham Lincoln in 1983. Since then, she has focused on Abraham Lincoln as her subject and has made many paintings of different styles which people talk about. Been active, being , had hered by cnn paintings in the historical society, along with some other people you might have heard of. Salvador dali, he was there too. Norman rockwell, robert rauschenberg. Certainly in very good company. Sheddition to all of this, lives in gettysburg and has a gallery up there. She is also very active with the fellowship of pennsylvania. At the end well talk about the lincoln fellowship and her hundred nights of taps, a program that she runs in pennsylvania. Please welcome wendy allen. I think we had a record turnout for the Lincoln Group going to the lincoln forum. Were going to try to beat that record this year in november. Wendy is involved in all of those.
