The 48 victims of the Stardust nightclub tragedy in Dublin in 1981 and their families have received a formal apology from the Irish Government. The State apology comes less than a week after a jury ruled that the 48 deaths were "unlawful."
The inquest heard that most of the victims were already dead by the time the first fire engines arrived at the scene. Firefighters found unimaginable carnage; heaps of bodies and body parts.
